₹57,821 Crore Amaravati works on fast track; CM Chandrababu Naidu sets deadline, warns of action
Amaravati: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set a strict timeline for the completion of Amaravati capital works, directing officials and contractors to accelerate execution so that the projects can be ready for inauguration by the Prime Minister.
He warned that delays and negligence will not be tolerated and stressed continuous monitoring of progress.
Massive capital works in progress
Officials informed the Chief Minister that works worth ₹57,821 crore are currently underway, with projects valued at ₹50,943 crore already grounded.
Key developments include housing, roads, trunk infrastructure, Land Pooling Scheme (LPS) amenities, and iconic structures such as the Assembly, High Court, and Secretariat.
Nearly 20,000 workers and experts are engaged in various construction activities across the capital region.
CM flags delays, seeks accountability
Reviewing contractor-wise progress, Naidu expressed dissatisfaction over delays by certain agencies and instructed that clear weekly and monthly targets be set and strictly followed.
He reiterated that there is no shortage of funds and asked contractors handling multiple projects to speed up execution while maintaining quality standards.
Push for local manpower, modern tech
With contractors citing manpower shortages due to elections in other states, the Chief Minister advised them to maximise utilisation of locally available skilled workers.
He also emphasised the adoption of advanced technologies, green energy solutions, and cost-effective construction practices to build Amaravati as a future-ready city.
Safety concerns after fire mishaps
Expressing concern over recent fire incidents in the capital region, Naidu criticised agencies for negligence in safeguarding materials. He warned that such lapses are inviting criticism and could become politically sensitive.
He directed officials to stay alert, ensure immediate response to any untoward incidents, and appoint competent project managers. “Negligence will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he said.
Ensure uninterrupted material supply
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure continuous availability of essential materials such as sand and gravel so that construction is not disrupted.
He also warned of strict action against those creating hurdles and directed coordination with Collectors of Krishna, Guntur, and NTR districts to resolve issues promptly.
