Hyderabad: A pack of stray dogs brutally attacked and killed a six-year-old boy in Kazipet on Friday. The horrifying incident took place while the child, Chotu, was playing in a park near the railway station. He was rushed to MGM Hospital but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Chotu’s family is reportedly from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, and earns their livelihood by selling small daily-use items at various junctions in the city. They are devastated by the unimaginable loss they have suffered.

Following this tragedy, the boy’s relatives and local people asked the authorities to take immediate action to address the stray dog menace within the GWMC (Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation) limits.

Government chief whip Vinay Bhaskar and Mayor Gundu Sudha Rani visited the hospital to console the boy’s parents.

The tragic incident reminds us of a terrifying episode that occurred in April when a street dog bit a shocking 29 people, including three children and elderly individuals, in various localities of Hanamkonda. Similarly, in March, another incident unfolded in the Kashibugga area where street dogs attacked a 7-year-old boy while he was playing outside his home.

In Hyderabad, a four-year-old boy was fatally mauled by stray dogs while his father was working at a car servicing centre.

A five-year-old boy in Khammam district succumbed to rabies after being bitten by stray dogs. Despite municipal authorities’ announcing measures, citizens report no significant improvement in addressing the stray dog menace.
