As of now 7 people are injured due to fire burns out of which 4 are said to be critical with 90% burns.

7 suffer severe injuries in a blast at pharma company in Atchutapuram SEZ

Anakapalle: Seven suffered severe burns in a blast occurred at Sahithi Pharma Private Limited (Unit -1) in Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Atchutapuram in Anakapalli district on Friday.

According to Anakapalli SP KV Murali Krishna, the incident occurred at around 11.45 AM due to blasting of a Solvent Reactor. The explosion occurred in the reactor when around 35 workers were in the morning shift. The inflammatory chemicals were set ablaze and a massive fire soon engulfed the factory. Most of them escaped unhurt.

10 fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the fire. The fire is under control and further investigation is on.

The DD for Drug Control has been informed and according to Inspector of Factories there are no dangerous and toxic gases issues.



Police have arranged ambulances and shifted the injured the hospital. As of now 7 people are injured due to fire burns out of which 4 are said to be critical with 90% burns. Four of the injured have been shifted to KIMS hospital in Vizag City, 2 people shifted to KGH, 1 person shifted to Star zen, Atchutapuram Hospital.



The district collector and superintendent of police reached the accident site. More details are yet to be ascertained.
