84 MLA candidates on Telangana Congress list have criminal record; BJP second with 78, BRS 58

By Sri Lakshmi Muttevi Published on 21 Nov 2023 12:16 PM GMTHyderabad: At 84 candidates, the Indian National Congress party has the highest number of MLA candidates with cases registered against them for the ensuing Telangana State Assembly elections, as per the data from the candidatesā poll affidavits.
The next name in the partiesā list is BJP with 78 candidates followed by BRS with 58 candidates.
Malkajgiri MP and Kondagal Congress MLA candidate A Revanth Reddy and Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh from the BJP have 89 cases each registered against them. Among the AIMIM candidates, only six have a criminal record.
The list also includes pending cases from 15 years. Some of them were booked during the movement for Telangana statehood.
Congress
According to the report, the Congress party among other candidates is fielding 84 candidates with a total of 540 cases registered against them.
According to the affidavit, the majority of the FIRs against Revanth Reddy were related to hate speech against the ruling party. The charges include violation of promulgation orders of the competent authority and provocative speeches.
Revanth Reddy is followed by Vedhma Bojju with 52 cases, Kokkirala Premsagar Rao with 32 cases, Purumalla Srinivas with 24 cases and T Jayaprakash Reddy with 20 cases.
BJP
The 78 MLA candidates in the BJP list have 549 cases registered against them. The highest number of cases among them belong to Goshamahal MLA T Raja Singh at 89 cases. According to Raja Singhās affidavit, 95 per cent of the cases are for hurting religious feelings, while others are for assaulting public servants on duty and fines. The criminal records run for 11 pages in the affidavit. His affidavit has the maximum downloads when compared to others.
Following this, 59 cases are against Karimnagar MLA Bandi Sanjay, 55 cases against Boath MLA Soyam Bapu Rao, 40 cases are against Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender, and 17 cases are against Korutla MLA Arvind Dharmapuri.
BRS
From the Bharat Rashtra Samithi party, 120 cases are registered against its 58 MLA candidates in this category.
The highest number of 10 cases are registered against Karimnagar MLA Gangula Kamalakar, followed by nine cases against chief minister K Chandrashekar, and eight cases against Sircilla MLA and minister KT Rama Rao.
