Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday launched the official process for the de-notification of dotted lands from the prohibited list. This decision will benefit 97,471 farmer families across the state, granting them complete rights over 2,06,171 acres of land with an estimated market value of approximately Rs. 20,000 crores.

Addressing a public meeting at Kavali, the Chief Minister said, “Famers will now be able to sell and pledge these lands for their financial needs besides enjoying other rights as land owners. The inclusion of dotted lands in Section 22 A (1)(e) by the TDP government in 2016 deprived farmers of their rights to sell or pledge these lands. The current government’s initiative brings an end to the historical problems faced by farmers and restores their full rights.”

Re-survey of lands

In a bid to resolve land disputes permanently, the government has undertaken a re-survey of lands after a century through the YSR Jagananna Saswatha Bhu Hakku and Bhu Raksha programme.

Jagan announced that 7,92,238 permanent title deeds have already been provided to farmers in 2,000 villages during the first phase, with the second phase scheduled to begin next month.

“I consider Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) as an investment in human capital. AP is going to be a role model for best Human Capital Index in the country in the days to come. Today, a superpower like Germany is facing a huge crunch as far as skilled workforce is concerned. Just to avoid that situation, we are investing in human capital today,” the CM emphasised.

During the public meeting, Jagan sanctioned funds for various development projects, including the transformation of Kavali Tank into a balancing reservoir with an allocation of Rs. 35 crores. Additionally, Rs. 20 crores have been allocated for the construction of the Sangam Barrage and Kavali link canal, Rs. 15 crores for widening the Kavali Trunk Road, and Rs. 80 crores for the infrastructure development of Indiramma Colony 16th ward on par with Jagananna Colony.
