ACB raids suspended sub-registrar Krishna Mohana Rao in Guntur; Houses, 12 acres & ₹28 lakh found
Ongole: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Saturday conducted simultaneous searches at two locations in Guntur district in connection with a disproportionate assets (DA) case against a suspended in-charge Sub-Registrar Namana Krishna Mohana Rao.
Officials said the searches led to the detection of several immovable and movable properties allegedly far exceeding the officer’s known sources of income.
The raids were carried out at Chirala town and Nanduru village in Ponnuru mandal against Krishna Mohana Rao, Senior Assistant in the Sub-Registrar Office (SRO), Ammanabrolu.
He had earlier served as in-charge Sub-Registrar at Giddaluru in Prakasam district.
Fresh DA case registered
According to ACB officials, a case (Crime No. 04/RCA-ACB-OGL/2026) has been registered under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended in 2018), for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to known sources of income.
Officials stated that further valuation and scrutiny of seized documents are currently underway.
Earlier trap case
The DA case follows an earlier ACB trap on July 10, 2025, when Rao was caught while functioning as in-charge Sub-Registrar at Giddaluru. He was arrested in that case, later released on bail, and subsequently placed under suspension.

During Saturday’s searches, ACB teams reportedly seized property documents and other incriminating records. The assets identified so far include:
Three residential houses
Thirteen house sites
Approximately 12.19 acres of agricultural land
Promissory notes worth ₹9 lakh
Cash of ₹63,000
Gold ornaments weighing about 548.3 grams
Silver articles weighing around 453 grams
Three costly wristwatches
One Toyota Innova Crysta car
Three two-wheelers
Electronic gadgets of substantial value
Bank deposits amounting to ₹28.25 lakh
Household articles of significant worth
Officials indicated that the total valuation is yet to be finalised.
Service background
Rao joined the Registration and Stamps Department as a Junior Assistant in 1992. He worked in various Sub-Registrar Offices, including Inkollu, Ongole, Kandukuru, Parchuru and Marturu. Promoted as Senior Assistant in 2011, he later served in Ongole, Cumbum, Darsi, Ammanabrolu and Giddaluru (as in-charge SRO).
Arrest and Court Proceedings
The ACB stated that the accused will be formally arrested in the DA case following due procedure and produced before the Special ACB Court in Nellore.

The ACB has appealed to citizens to report corruption in government departments to the nearest ACB office. Officials assured that the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
