ACB raids Yadagirigutta Sub-Registrars residence; seize Rs 76L, jewelry, land documents

Hyderabad: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) carried out searches at the residence of disgraced Yadagirigutta Sub-Registrar Gajula Devanand and seized Rs 76,09,500 in cash, 27.03 grams of gold jewelry and documents relating to 7.09 acres of land and 200 yard plot.

The raids were carried out at Medipally in Hyderabad. The raids come a day after he was caught accepting a bribe. It all began on Thursday when Anti ­Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Sub Registrar of Yadagirigutta in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district for taking a bribe of Rs 20,000.


Gajula Devanand had demanded the bribe for registering sale deeds pertaining to sold-out plots. Gajula Devanand had asked the complainant Dr. Satyam Made to hand over the bribe money to V Prabhakar, a document writer. ACB caught Prabhakar red-handed accepting a bribe from the complainant.

"The trap amount of Rs 20,000 was recovered from the possession of Prabhakar. Fingers of both hands and left side pocket of his pants yielded positive results in the chemical test," said ACB. Later, ACB arrested Sub Registrar along with the document writer and produced them before the court.
