Telangana: Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao will inaugurate Telangana’s new secretariat complex, named after Dr BR Ambedkar, on 17 February. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will also hold a mega public meeting at the Parade Ground in Secunderabad in the afternoon.

17 February happens to be KCR’s birthday. Before the inaugural, Vedic scholars will perform Vastu puja, chandi yagam, and sudarshana yagam.

On Tuesday, KCR inspected the progress of the construction of the secretariat building. He inspected the entire area starting from the front door where the final improvements were being made. Minister for roads and buildings, legislative affairs and housing Vemula Prashanth Reddy and engineers gave suggestions to the work agencies. KCR inspected the constructions undertaken for banks, canteens, ATMs, media center, and waiting rooms for visitors. He also inspected the signal boosting system set up to provide continuous internet connectivity.

The new secretariat is spread across 7 lakh square feet on a 25-acre campus and is built at an estimated cost of over Rs. 600 crores. The building is 278 feet tall with modern-day requirements.

The old secretariat was demolished in July 2020 due to “bad Vastu” and unscientific layout.
