All eyes on KCR: Will he attend the Telangana Budget Session tomorrow?

Hyderabad: Will former chief minister K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR) attend the ongoing Telangana Assembly Budget Sessions? majority of the people in Telangana are curious about it, and they also want to hear from the BRS supremo during the discussions on the State Budget.

Sources said that KCR is likely to attend the budget sessions of the Assembly on Thursday. If it happens it would be the first time, KCR would step in the Assembly as the Leader of the Opposition. KCR on Tuesday convened a meeting with the MLAs and discussed the strategies to be followed during the ongoing Assembly sessions.

Due to a hip fracture, KCR was unable to attend the Assembly's first meeting shortly after the elections and was given a six-week recovery period. However, he soon bounced back, though, and attended the party gatherings, such as legislature party and parliamentary meetings. A day before the budget session began, KCR came to the Assembly, took the oath as MLA, and assumed the role of leader of the opposition.

However, when the session commenced on February 8, he was nowhere to be seen. Several BRS leaders and political experts believed that KCR would attend the Telangana Assembly Budget Sessions to denounce the Congress government for encouraging detections and injustice being done to the unemployed youth. But much to their dismay, KCR did not attend the ongoing Assembly sessions which began on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, the Congress government led by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy conducted a discussion on the raw deal meted out to Telangana in the Union Budget during the ongoing Telangana Assembly Sessions. On the occasion, a war of words was exchanged between Revanth Reddy and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR).

War of words exchanged between KTR and Revanth

Revanth Reddy criticised KTR for driving the sessions on a wrong route through lack of knowledge. ā€œWhy didn't KCR attend the Assembly sessions and participate in the crucial discussion on the raw deal meted out by the Centre for Telangana,ā€ Revanth Reddy questioned.

"I am glad to hear from the chief minister at least on this occasion. One thing I want to make clear is that the BRS MLAs in the Assembly have all the abilities to answer Revanth Reddy and there is no need for KCR here," KTR said. Irked over the remarks of KTR, Revanth Reddy said, ā€œI became the chief minister because of my hard work but not without any influence from my father. I thought KTR was from the management quota, but it is worse than that.ā€

In return, KTR said that the BRS MLAs could also say that Revanth Reddy become the chief minister on payment quota. Intervening KTRā€™s speech, Revanth Reddy said, ā€œ I didn't become the chief minister on a payment quota. Recently, the BRS MLAs went to New Delhi and had a secret pact with the Centre.ā€ KTR questioned Revanth Reddy for accusing him of serving as a minister under management quota in the previous BRS regime. ā€œIt is not at all correct on the part of the chief minister to speak about him in the Assembly,ā€ KTR said.

Meanwhile, political experts in the state are also curious to know the action to be taken by the Telangana Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar on KCR for skipping the Assembly sessions. However, so far there has been no reaction from the Speaker in this regard.
