Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a high-profile event on Friday, launched and virtually laid foundation stone for multiple projects worth ₹57,962 crore across various sectors, marking the official “Restart of Amaravati.”
The initiative is a significant milestone for the nearly 30,000 farmers who had voluntarily pooled over 33,000 acres of land during the earlier TDP regime to support the capital's development.
As part of this ambitious relaunch, foundation stones were laid for key infrastructure including the High Court, Legislative Assembly, Secretariat, and residential quarters for judges, MLAs, ministers, and All India Services officers.
The Union government has extended strong backing, granting ₹15,000 crore for the capital’s development.
Speaking in Telugu to greet the people of Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Modi proclaimed, “Amaravati is not just one city, it is a Shakti.” He emphasized that the projects launched would lay a strong foundation for both Andhra Pradesh’s ambitions and the larger vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India). "Amaravati is where legacy meets progress. NTR dreamt of a Viksit Andhra Pradesh — we will now fulfill that dream," he said.
PM Modi also lauded Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu for his visionary leadership and contributions to India’s tech revolution. Recalling his early days as Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Modi revealed, “Let me tell you a secret. When I first became CM of Gujarat, I was closely observing the innovations Naidu was implementing in Hyderabad. I learned a lot, and today I’m applying those learnings across India.”
He further praised Naidu’s efficiency and ability to deliver large-scale projects with speed and quality: “When it comes to execution, there’s no one better than Chandrababu.”
On CM Naidu’s request, PM Modi agreed to participate in the International Yoga Day celebrations on June 21, to be held grandly in Visakhapatnam.
Major Projects Announced:
1. Foundation laid for key government institutions including the Assembly, Secretariat, High Court, and judicial housing.
2. 74 new projects worth ₹49,000 crore initiated.
3. Defence & Urban Development: ₹5,028 crore projects including:

4. Foundation stone laid for 6 new National Highway projects worth ₹3,176 crore
5. Inauguration of 8 completed NH projects worth ₹3,680 crore

During his address, CM Naidu expressed full support for PM Modi, saying: “Modiji hum aapke saath hain, Andhra Pradesh aapke saath hain, poora desh aapke saath hain.”
He urged the Prime Minister to back Amaravati’s transformation into India’s first Quantum Valley, sharing that MoUs had already been signed with IBM, TCS, and L&T. “Just as we launched HITECH City with Vajpayee Ji, today, with your support, we are beginning Quantum Valley in Amaravati,” Naidu said. “You guided us to focus on AI as a game-changer, and we are confident that both your name and Amaravati will be etched in history.”
Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan also addressed the gathering, expressing pride in Andhra Pradesh’s future.
