Listing out a series of corruption cases in Karnataka and other states, KTR called Mr. Shah "Abbadhala Badhshah (Badhshah of lies)" and called Prime Minister Narendra Modi "Nalayak PM." In response to Mr. Shah calling Telangana a corrupt state, KTR said the BJP-ruled Karnataka is the most corrupt state in India.
On Saturday, Union Home minister Amit Shah alleged that people were not aware that the state government was not implementing any schemes but branding the Centre's schemes as its own. He had slammed the KCR-led government in Telangana over alleged corruption and for not fulfilling its promises to the people of Telangana. Claiming that BJP was ready to face polls in Telangana, which were due in 2023, Mr. Shah said after forming a government, it will implement all the promises made to the public.
Financial allocation for Telangana
Regarding financial allocations to Telangana by the Centre, KTR said, "The amount of tax that Telangana paid to the Centre is approximately Rs. 3 lakh crores. As per finance allocations in the Rajya Sabha, government schemes and more, the Centre has given the state Rs. 1.65 lakh crores. However, each and every person in the BJP has a different figure to cite."
During the press meet, KTR showed a video of BJP state president Bandi Sanjay who can be heard saying that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given to the state more than the taxes paid and said, "Yesterday (Saturday), Amit Shah said they had given us Rs. 2.57 lakh crores. Amit Shah should thank Telangana citizens as their taxes are being used for the development of BJP-ruled states like Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, etc."
He added, "BJP celebrates Sardar Vallabhai Patel. However, the Sardar Vallabhai Patel stadium in Gujarat was renamed Narendra Modi stadium. I am sure Telangana citizens' taxes were used in its development."
NDA's steering is in the hands of corporates
Amit Shah on Saturday had alleged that TRS's steering is in the hands of AIMIM, KTR on Sunday said that NDA's steering is in the hands of the corporates whose loans are written off. The government has written of nearly Rs. 12 lakh crores that were due by several businessmen and corporators, KTR alleged.
"While the BJP has been blaming us for taking loans, India's total debt in March 2014 was Rs. 53 lakh crores. In March 2023, it will be Rs. 153 lakh crores. The BJP has added Rs. 100 lakh crores in eight years," said the TRS working president.
He added, "On the other hand, Telangana's GSDP percentage is at 23.5% and we rank 23rd in the country in terms of loans." KTR said that all loans taken by TRS is utilised for the benefit of the public in various projects like Mission Bhagiratha, the Kalleshwaram project, and more.
Further, he said that the BJP government finds no problem in looting the public by increasing petrol prices. "The government has collected Rs. 26.5 lakh crores by increasing petrol and diesel prices," he said.
Nijam, not Nizam
On Saturday, Amit Shah said that BJP will overthrow the "Nizam" from the state. Replying to this, KTR said, "Amit should speak Nijam (truth) instead of constantly thinking about Nizam. Perhaps, Amit Shah thinks and recalls about Nizam more than Nizam's own family."
The Union minister, on 14 May, had addressed a public meeting held to mark the culmination of the second phase of BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar's 'Praja Sangram Yatra.' Slamming KCR for criticising the BJP government at the Centre over paddy procurement, Mr. Shah had said it was the responsibility of the TRS government to purchase parboiled rice and if it cannot do it, then KCR should resign.
He had said that there were no employment or loan write-offs in the state under the ruling TRS. "You promised to waive farmer loans, provide 2BHK flats, Rs. 50,000 crores for Dalits, and three acres of land for every Dalit. But you have given nothing. I want to remind the people of Telangana that KCR promised water, funds, and jobs. But has he delivered on those promises? The BJP will fulfil those promises. We will give water, funds, and jobs," Mr. Shah had said on Saturday.
