Anakapalle: 30 fall ill after ammonia gas leak at factory in Atchutapuram SEZ

Following the leak, employees complained of nausea and were immediately shifted to nearby hospitals. Around 1,800 people were working when the incident occurred.
All the employees were evacuated and shifted to two private hospitals in Achutapuram and NTR hospital in the Anakapalle district. "The doctor said all of them are out of danger and the gas is not fatal. However, all the 1,800 staff members will be tested," the Anakapalle superintendent of police, Gautami Sali, said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy instructed officials to provide good treatment to those who are ill. He also ordered the local minister to visit the scene. The CM said the incident will be investigated and action will be taken to prevent such incidents. The source of gas leakage is being investigated by Pollution Control Board and the police officials.
