Anakapalle: Engineering student drowns in Pudimadaka beach, 5 missing
While they were playing in the waters, seven of them drowned after being pulled by strong waves

Anakapalle: A student drowned and died while swimming with his friends on Pudimadaka beach in Atchutapuram mandal here. Five others are still missing while one is in hospital in critical condition. Atchutapuram additional SI M. Venkata Rao said a group of 15 friends from DIET Engineering College, Anakapalle, went to Pudimadaka beach on Friday. While they were playing in the waters, seven of them drowned after being pulled by strong waves. The students went to beach after completing their examination.
Upon receiving information, rescue operations were conducted immediately by the coast guard. The body of one student, Gudivada Pawan Kumar, was found. Another student, Teja, is in critical condition and has been admitted to the hospital.
"We are yet to trace five more students – K Jagadish of Gopalapatnam, S Yeswanth of Narsipatnam, B Satish of Guntur, B Ganesh of Chuchukonda, and Chandu of Yelamanachali. Expert swimmers with the help of marine and coast guard have launched rescue operations to trace the missing persons," said the SI.
