Andhra Pradesh has 5,460 nominations were filed for 175 Assembly constituencies and 965 for 25 Lok Sabha seats

In all, 5,460 nominations were filed for 175 Assembly constituencies and 965 for 25 Lok Sabha seats.
The number of candidates has surpassed the 2019 figures. As many as 4,299 nominations were submitted in 2019 for 175 Assembly seats and 770 for 25 Parliament seats.
According to the Election Commission of India (ECI) website, a total of 5,460 nominations were filed for the 175 Assembly constituencies. Tirupati accounted for the highest number of nominations at 83. Among them 34 were independents and the rest of them were from various political parties. Mangalagiri saw 76 nominations followed by Nandyal (64), Chandragiri (63), Ongole and Vijayawada West (61) each. Kamalapuram constituency reported the lowest number of nominations at 9.
When it comes to Parliament seats, as many as 965 nominations were filed for 25 Parliamentary constituencies in the state. Visakhapatnam Parliamentary constituency accounted for the highest number of nominations at 69. Among them 17 candidates were independents and the rest of them were from various political parties. Guntur saw 67 nominations followed by Rajampet (61) and Nandyal (57). Machilipatnam constituency reported the lowest number of nominations at 21.
Chittoor saw 56 nominations, Vijayawada (50), Kadapa (47), Ongole (45), Tirupati (44), Kurnool (41), Hindupur, Ankapalle and Narasaraopet constituencies saw 40 each. Kakinada and Narasapuram 39 each, Araku and Anantapur 38 each, Nellore 36, Amalapuram 35, Bapatla 34, Srikakulam 33, Rajamahendravaram and Vizianagaram 30 each and Eluru 28. The ECI officials stated that the multiple sets of nominations filed by candidates and their allies were the reason for the excessive volume of the paperwork.
The scrutiny of nominations would take place on Friday and the last day for withdrawal of nominations is April 29. Elections for the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha would be held simultaneously on May 13 and counting votes would take place on June 4.
