Andhra floods: Death toll touches 41; 40,000 people evacuated in Nellore
The death toll in the Rayalaseema region and Nellore district has climbed to 41 after six more bodies were retrieved in Rajampet Mandal.

Two more flood-related deaths were reported from Chinnamandem Mandal of Kadapa district. Four deaths were reported from the Nellore district on Sunday. Police said 15 bodies have been handed over to the families. Police said three unidentified bodies are lying at the Rajampet Government Hospital in Kadapa district.
In a tragic incident, two siblings including a woman who tried to cross Mandavya River in Chinnamandem Mandal were washed away. Their bodies were retrieved near Vandadi village. Two people including a constable have been reported dead in the Nellore district so far. Two unidentified bodies were retrieved near the Somasila project on Sunday.
Nellore administration said over 40,000 persons have been evacuated and moved to 92 relief camps across the district.
The flood fury continued for the fourth consecutive day across Chittoor, Kadapa, Anantapur, and Nellore districts throwing life completely out of gear on Sunday.
Bridge connecting Kadapa-Tadipatri towns along the Papagni river collapsed due to the impact of floods. Road connectivity to several villages along the route remained suspended.
A three-storey building came crashing down at Kadapa town due to floods. Police and fire fighting personnel rescued two persons including a woman from the building near the site.
Traffic along national highway - 16 connecting Kolkata to Chennai via Andhra Pradesh came to a grinding halt after the road caved in at two places near Nellore on Sunday.
Rail and road connectivity to the temple city of Tirupati remained cut off. Kadapa-Tirupati highway closed and Nellore-Tirupati highway were closed. Bengaluru-Tirupati highway too was partially closed.
