Andhra to get Sanjeevani: CM Naidu’s new health initiative merges Ayushman Bharat, NTR services

Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the Andhra Pradesh government will soon roll out a new healthcare initiative named Sanjeevani.

Aim to bring healthcare to doorstep

Speaking at the Swasth Nari–Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan program, CM Naidu explained that the scheme aims to integrate Ayushman Bharat, NTR health services and global medical knowledge to deliver doorstep healthcare to citizens.

He highlighted that the project is being developed in partnership with the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and TCS. As part of the initiative, health records for nearly five crore people will be created, ensuring better treatment and access.

Strengthen healthcare delivery in Andhra Pradesh

CM Naidu symbolically compared Sanjeevani to the mythical herb from the Ramayana, which revived Lakshmana, stressing that this program too is intended to save lives and strengthen healthcare delivery in Andhra Pradesh.

Special medical camps

As a part of the Swasth Nari–Sashakt Parivar Abhiyan program, special medical camps for women’s health issues will be held across the State from Wednesday to October 2.

The Abhiyan intends to ensure comprehensive screenings for women’s health issues like anaemia, hypertension, diabetes and cancer.

14,500 medical camps across AP

The campaign was inaugurated on September 17 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his 75th birthday, aligning with his vision for empowered communities.

In Andhra Pradesh, a total of 14,500 medical camps will be held across the state. These medical camps will be held in sub-health centres and teaching hospitals. 8,181 specialist doctors will participate and conduct health check-ups for women.

The Medical and Health Department has set a target of conducting health check-ups for more than one crore children and adolescents through these camps.

As many as 4,000 staff members from MEPNA, village ward secretariats, Anganwadis and the Medical and Health Department will participate in the management of the medical camps.
