AP Assembly sessions from June 21; Jagan likely to attend
The YSRCP is yet to make a call on its choice of its Legislative Party leader.
By Sistla Dakshina Murthy Published on 18 Jun 2024 2:36 PM GMTAmaravati: The Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly will be held for two days from June 21. The newly-elected MLAs would be sworn in on the first day following the election of the pro-tem speaker.
On June 22, the newly elected TDP-BJP-JSP alliance is likely to table a bill to withdraw the Andhra Pradesh Land Titling Act.
TDPās Ayyana Patrudu likely to be speaker
The TDP-BJP-JSP alliance won 164 seatso: TDP alone won 135 seats, the Jana Sena Party won 21 seats and the BJP secured eight seats. The YSRCP was confined to 11 Assembly constituencies. Sources said that senior TDP leader and Rajahmundry Rural MLA Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdary is likely to be the pro-tem speaker.
On the second day, the nomination of the speaker would be decided. The TDP leadership is considering senior TDP leader and Narsipatnam MLA Ch Ayyana Patrudu as the speaker for the AP Legislative Assembly. Clarity is yet to emerge for the post of deputy speaker and party's chief whip.
Peddireddy might be the YSRCP Legislative party leader
The YSRCP is yet to make a call on its choice of its Legislative Party leader. Sources said that YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is mulling over the options on the appointment of the YSRCP party leader since he did not get the Opposition status.
Sources said that if Jagan is not elected as the Legislative party leader there are chances for senior leader and Punganur MLA Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy to become the YSRCP Legislative party leader. On the other hand, clarity is yet to emerge on the attendance of the newly elected YSRCP MLAs for the two-day Assembly sessions from June 21.
Jagan cancelled Pulivendula visit
YSRCP president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelled his visit to Pulivendula on June 19 for the AP Legislative Assembly session from June 21. Earlier in the day, the YSRCP announced a two-day schedule for Jaganās visit to Pulivendula from June 19.
Meanwhile, the YSRCP has also postponed the partyās elaborate meeting to June 20, keeping in view the Assembly session from June 21. During the meeting, Jagan would give directions to the newly elected MLAs and to those contested in the recently concluded elections in the State.
