Neerabh Kumar Prasad, accompanied by APCRDA commissioner Vivek Yadav, conducted a whirlwind tour in the Amaravati capital region on Sunday
By Sistla Dakshina Murthy Published on 9 Jun 2024 1:27 PM GMTAmaravati: āChief Minister-designate N Chandrababu Naidu has directed the officials to resume ongoing works immediately in the Amaravati capital city area under the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) limits,ā said chief secretary Neerabh Kumar Prasad.
Neerabh Kumar Prasad, accompanied by APCRDA commissioner Vivek Yadav, conducted a whirlwind tour in the Amaravati capital region on Sunday.
The CSās tour is quite significant as the capital project, shelved by the outgoing YSRCP government during its term, is now expected to be revived in the next five years under the new TDP-JSP-BJP government in the state.
Earlier in 2015, Neerabh Kumar Prasad served as the Commissioner for Municipal Administration and Urban Development (MA&UD) and he had a detailed knowledge over the works began in Amaravati capital city construction.
Neerabh Kumar Prasad said that Naidu had reviewed the progress of the Amaravati capital city and directed the officials to carry out jungle clearance works on the seed axis road leading to Amaravati capital city. "We're going to commence all of the work in Amaravati shortly. We will discuss with the finance department and pay the farmers in Amaravati the money owed for the two-year lease," the CS said.
34 forest-dense regions to be cleared
In the first part of the tour, Prasad inspected Uddandarayunipalem village where prime minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the construction of Amaravati capital city in 2015. From there, the CS inspected the CRDA office and quarters constructed for the peopleās representatives, All India Services (AIS) officials, and staff of the High Court and class IV divisions. He also inspected 10 MLD water treatment plant and heavy nest constructions in the capital region.
āWe have begun to spruce up the trunk roads, mainly the seed access road by undertaking jungle clearance for which 83 earthmovers have been deployed to carry out the works in 34 locations across the capital city including seed axis road, Karakatta road and other roads developed as per the master plan. The officials are instructed to complete the works including restoration of electricity lamps before the swearing-in ceremony of Naidu,ā Neerabh Kumar Prasad said.
After June 12, a detailed report would be submitted to the chief minister on the jungle clearance works taken in the capital region by the APCRDA, he added.
The CS further said that decisions would be held with engineers to conduct a structural assessment and take a call on the standard of the buildings left unattended in the last five years.
Reacting to the seizure of AP beverages, mining and CID offices after the NDA alliance came to power in the state, Neerabh Kumar Prasad said that steps are being taken to gather all crucial documents and seize the records from the respective offices.
