Monstrous Murder: YSRCP activist brutally axed to death in Palnadu, section 144 imposed

Palnadu: In a monstrous act, a young YSRCP activist was brutally murdered in Vinukonda town in Palnadu district of Andhra Pradesh.

Identified as Rashid, he was attacked by Jilani (reportedly TDP activist) with an axe. The attacker also chopped off his hands. The victim had a deep cut on his neck, leaving him bleeding to death.

Police said personal rivalry was the motive for the crime.

What was terrifying is that the incident was caught on camera and the video was circulated on social media.

The incident has shocked the nation with people raising serious questions about law and order. People said Andhra Pradesh was going Afghanistan's way. Netizens demanded strict action from the newly formed TDP-Jana Sena Government.

Police have imposed prohibitory orders under Section 144 in Vinukonda to maintain order.

Soon after the murder, the YSRCP shared the video on X, tagging President Droupadi Murmu, and sought support from every Indian to save the people of Andhra Pradesh.

A case has been registered and his body has been sent for postmortem.

Speaking on the incident, Palnadu SP Kanchi Srinivas Rao said, "The incident happened at around 8.30 on July 17. Jilani killed Rashid due to personal rivalry,"

The SP has ruled out any political angle in the murder. The SP has warned of serious action against those involved in such activities.

Meanwhile, the YSRCP on X alleged that the TDP activists have turned into monsters who are on a killing spree.

The former chief minister and YSRCP President YS Jagan Mohan Reddy spoke on the phone with former Vinukonda MLA Bolla Brahma Naidu on the incident. Jagan will be visiting Rashid's family in Vinukonda on July 19, Friday to pay condolences.

Palnadu in the news since polls:

Palnadu district has been in the news for violence since the polls. When Mallika Kharge was the SP, a video went viral in which she was heard saying that Palnadu is famous for all wrong reasons, highlighting post-poll violence in Palnadu, Macherla, and Narsannapeta. She warned of stern action against perpetrators.

As many as 22 cases were registered in three assembly Constituencies under the limits of eight police stations limits.

In May, the Election Commission also suspended Palnadu SP and transferred District Collector for alleged failure in handling post-poll violence in the district.
