AP nominates 135 persons to various corporations; 56% seats go to SCs, STs
By Newsmeter Network Published on 17 July 2021 12:45 PM GMTVijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government on Saturday released the list of names for 135 posts in various Corporations in the districts. Fifty-six per cent of the total posts were given to BC, SC, ST, and Minorites.
The government advisor (public affairs), Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, said in line with Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy's vision to empower women, top priority was given to women while selecting candidates for nominated posts. He further said that 76 posts were given to BC, SC, ST, and Minorites.
Hailing the move, Home minister Mekathoti Sucharitha said the whole country was looking towards Andhra Pradesh for the implementation of social justice and added that it showed the state's commitment towards women empowerment and development of weaker sections.
Meanwhile, BC welfare minister Chelluboina Venu Gopal Krishna said Jagan believed that political power should be vested with weaker sections and his appointment as a minister was an example.
Rajya Sabha MP Mopidevi Venkat Ramana also praised the Chief Minister for taking historic decisions in the political history of the state and bringing revolutionary changes in the society. He said while other parties use the backward classes as vote bank, the Chief Minister has been strengthening the weaker sections politically, socially, and financially.
