AP reports 10,057 more COVID-19 cases; eight deaths in the last 24 hours

AP reports 10,057 more COVID-19 cases; eight deaths in the last 24 hours

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh on Wednesday recorded a whopping 10,057 Covid-19 cases. In a span of 24 hours, the state witnessed a 43.7% increase in the number of new cases. With this, the total number of active cases has risen to 44,935. The Total Positivity Rate (TPR) stands at 24.1%.

Eight people died of the virus in the last 24 hours, of these three were from Visakhapatnam, and one each from Chittoor, Guntur, Vijayawada, Srikakulam,and Nellore.

The state has been witnessing a drastic increase in COVID-19 cases for the past few days. On January 18, the state had reported 6,996 new cases. This was the largest single-day increase of around 70% as only 4,108 cases were reported on 17 January.

The state tested 41,713 samples in the last 24 hours. In the last 24 hours, 1,222 persons recovered from COVID-19 in the state.
