Amaravati: The Andhra Pradesh State Assembly elections will be held on May 13, 2024 and counting of votes will be on June 4.




The Lok Sabha elections will be held in seven phases. Andhra Pradesh and Telangana will go for polls in Phase 4 from April 19 to June 1.

On Saturday, the Chief Election Commissioner of India Rajiv Kumar announced the schedule for the 2024 general elections for Lok Sabha and State Legislative Assemblies.




The 2024 Legislative Assembly elections will be held for five states: Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Sikkim.

Last Date of Nominations: April 25.

Voting day: May 13.

The counting of votes: June 4.

MCC:

The Model Code of Conduct (MCC) will kick of from March 16, which means candidates, and government must work under the stipulated guidelines of the ECI around their speeches, announcements and election manifestos.

The prime minister Narendra Modi-led government and other state governments will be prohibited from announcing any financial grants during the period.

The ECI strictly mentioned that the ruling party cannot monopolise rest houses, dak bungalows, or other government accommodations. Regional and national parties have already begun announcing their candidates for the elections.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh has 25 Lok Sabha and 175 Assembly seats for its mega elections this year. In the upcoming polls, there will be a race between the YSRCP, TDP-Jan Sena-BJP alliance and Congress parties.

Recently, the NDA alliance announced that TDP will contest 144 seats and the BJP and JSP will contest 10 and 21 seats in the state, respectively. This will be the first election for the trio will fight together against the ruling YSRCP led by CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

The ECI’s pre-announcement comes a day after two new election commissioners were inducted, after the retirement of Anup Chandra Pandey in February and Arun Goel’s surprise resignation last week. Two election commissioners Gyanesh Kumar and Sukhbir Singh Sandhu assumed charge on March 15. They are the first ones to have been appointed as members of the poll panel after the new law on the appointment of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) and ECs came into force.
