Appoint special officers to resolve defence land allotment, Sainik Schools issues: CM Revanth to army

Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy said no Sainik School sanctioned for Telangana; urges army to appoint special officers to resolve land issue

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday urged the army to appoint special officers to facilitate the speedy resolution of long-pending issues, including defence land allotment and the sanctioning of Sainik Schools for Telangana.

Focus on defence land and administrative issues

During the meeting, the Chief Minister and senior Army officials deliberated on issues concerning the allotment of defence land to the State for development projects and the resolution of pending administrative matters between the Telangana Government and the Army.

Demand for Sainik School

Raising the issue of Sainik Schools, the Chief Minister pointed out that several other states have been sanctioned two to four such institutions, while Telangana has not received even a single Sainik School over the past decade.

Terming this a “raw deal” to the state, he urged the Army authorities to consider sanctioning a Sainik School in Telangana at the earliest.

Proposal to Shift Southern Command Headquarters

The Chief Minister also requested the Army to examine the possibility of shifting the Southern Command Centre headquarters to Hyderabad, citing the city’s strategic importance and existing defence infrastructure.

State’s Commitment to National Security

Reiterating the State Government’s commitment to strengthening national security, the Chief Minister informed the meeting that the Telangana Government has already allocated about 3,000 acres of land at Vikarabad for the establishment of a low-frequency Navy radar station.

Call for Continuous Deliberations

Emphasising the need for sustained coordination, the Chief Minister said that all pending issues should be resolved through continuous deliberations and formally requested the appointment of Special Officers from both sides to ensure regular follow-up and early resolution of the matters discussed.

Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao, Major General Ajay Mishra, General Officer Commanding, Telangana & Andhra Sub-Area, Director General of Police Shivadhar Reddy, and other senior officials from the State Government and the Indian Army were present.
