Hyderabad: K Kavitha, former MLC and daughter of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, will not be joining Congress, clarified Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud at Gandhi Bhawan.
In an interaction with the media on Tuesday, Mahesh Kumar Goud clarified that the rumours are false and baseless.
No intention of admitting her, says Congress
He stated there is no truth to the propaganda about Kavitha’s Congress entry and stated that the party has no intention of joining her.
He called on the BRS leadership to respond to the criticisms and statements being made by Kavitha.
Rumours were rife that Kavitha is distancing herself from BRS and might be looking for a new political platform. However, Goud remarked that Kavitha’s recent comments about internal corruption and ‘facts’ of the previous regime essentially prove the allegations Congress has been making for years.
BRS has no future, says Goud
Goud asserted that BRS has ‘only a past and no future.’ He claimed the public now believes large-scale corruption occurred under their rule, particularly as there is no clear defence from the party against recent allegations.
BJP using religion for political mileage
The TPCC chief criticised the BJP for trying to gain political mileage using ‘Hindu sentiment.’
Goud noted that 90 per cent of Congress members are Hindus who also worship the same deities. He stated, “God should be viewed as God, not dragged into politics for a vote bank.” He claimed the BJP is not in a position to show any significant influence in the state.
Goud supports decision to hold Cabinet meeting outside Hyderabad
Referring to Minister Komatireddy’s recent comments, Goud mentioned that the Chief Minister does not interfere in individual ministerial departments, giving them full freedom.
He hailed the decision to hold a Cabinet meeting outside of Hyderabad as a positive development for decentralisation.
TPCC chief challenges BRS on employment record
He criticised the BRS government’s division of districts as ‘unscientific’ and done for political convenience. While there is no plan to abolish any districts, a committee will be formed to make scientific adjustments.
He challenged the BRS to compare the number of jobs filled during their 10-year tenure against those filled by the current government in just two years.
Congress is taking measures to weed out ‘rebels’
The party chief said they are taking measures to ensure there are no ‘rebels’ during the upcoming municipal polls. Goud invited anyone with evidence of corruption in ‘Bhubharathi’ to come forward, promising strict action.
He emphasised that no one has the right to interfere with personal freedoms and warned of action against those spreading baseless allegations against women officials.
Regarding the water disputes with the neighbouring Andhra Pradesh, Goud declared there would be no compromise on the state’s share of water.
