This is seen a great benefit for the BRS party ahead of the Telangana State Assembly elections. With this the government will begin distribution of Rythu Bandhu to all farmers who own lands in the state. With the approval, the state government, will disburse Rythu Bandhu aid for rabi crop, of around Rs 7,500 crore to accounts of over 70 lakh farmers ahead of Assembly polls.
It is pertinent to note that, in a usual year, the the government credits its flagship program (aid) in January, but keeping in view the upcoming Assembly elections, the government has been seeking to advance it. And the ECI as given its green signal.
Earlier, The Telangana Congress party leaders have filed a complaint with the Election Commission of India (ECI), raising a plethora of issues such as public cash benefits promised by the ruling BRS government, and the alleged favouritism shown by the IAS, IPS and retired bureaucrats towards the state government in Telangana for the upcoming Assembly elections scheduled for November 30.
The Congress leaders complained that the cash benefits declared by the BRS government in the form of RythuBandhu benefits to the farmers, promised benefits to Dalits, Muslims and housing benefits must be given before November 2.
āAll the cash transfers for welfare schemes to the beneficiaries must be done before the notification. The BRS government is repeatedly violating the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and prompting us to file a complaint with the Election Commission of India,ā said Uttam Kumar Reddy.
However, turning down the complaint, the Election Commission has given its approval for distribution of Rythu Bandhu.
This move will be a major boost for the BRS who is facing anti incumbency from certain sections. By this the BRS will be able to bring the farmers on their side. The farmers constitute to a large percentage of voting population.
