‘Bharat Future City to Indiramma Housing’: CM Revanth announces massive development programs on Telangana Formation Day
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on Monday announced that the state’s flagship urban development initiative will be named ‘Bharat Future City’, positioning it as a symbol of India’s technological and economic aspirations.
The announcement was made during the Telangana Formation Day celebrations, where the Chief Minister highlighted the government’s commitment to transforming the state into a global investment destination.
“Bharat Future City will be the engine driving the next phase of Telangana’s growth. It reflects our ambition to lead India into a future defined by innovation, sustainability, and inclusive development,” the Chief Minister said.
Elaborating further, he said that the mega project, planned across 30,000 acres, will encompass specialized zones including AI City, Pharma City, Sports City, Life Sciences City, and Health City, with world-class infrastructure and connectivity. A dedicated Future City Development Authority has already been set up to oversee planning and execution.
The initiative is part of the broader ‘Telangana Rising 2047’ roadmap, under which the state aims to become a $1 trillion economy by 2035 and contribute 10 percent to India’s GDP by 2047, up from the current 5 percent.
Revanth Reddy also reaffirmed his government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of the people, emphasizing economic revival, women's empowerment, and farmer welfare as key priorities. He outlined several flagship initiatives aimed at rebuilding the state's financial health and promoting inclusive development.
Financial reforms after a decade of neglect
Highlighting the challenges faced upon assuming office, Revanth Reddy said the state’s financial system was in a disorganized state due to a decade of negligence. "We inherited a broken economic structure, but we are working to set it right through systematic reforms," he stated.
Empowering one crore women entrepreneurs
Revanth Reddy underscored the vital role of women in Telangana’s economy, announcing ambitious plans to economically empower one crore (10 million) women. “Women are the backbone of our economy. We have already disbursed Rs 21,000 crore in zero-interest loans to support their entrepreneurial ventures,” he said.
He added that the management of schools had been entrusted to women and that loans were provided for purchasing buses, which are now being leased to the state transport corporation (RTC), creating a sustainable income model for women's groups.
Loan waivers and bonuses for farmers
On the agricultural front, the Chief Minister reiterated his government’s farmer-first approach. Within a year of coming to power, loans up to Rs 2 lakh were waived, benefiting thousands of farmers. “Under this scheme, Rs 26,000 crore has been credited directly into farmers’ accounts,” he revealed.
Boosting fine paddy cultivation
To encourage the cultivation of fine variety paddy, the government has introduced a Rs 500 per quintal bonus. This initiative, Reddy said, has significantly increased production, with the state now recording 2.75 million metric tonnes of fine paddy.
Land reforms for legal clarity and farmer confidence
Highlighting efforts to resolve longstanding land issues, the CM announced the implementation of the ‘Bhu Bharati – 2025’ Act, aimed at maintaining accurate land ownership records and ending disputes. “We are providing certainty to landowners and ending years of ambiguity,” he said.
Massive employment drives and skill development
In just 16 months, the state has filled over 60,000 government jobs, including 10,000 teacher posts. Private sector investments have generated an additional 1 lakh jobs, while ₹1 lakh in support is being provided to each civil service aspirant.
The government has also launched the Young India Skill University and is setting up a Sports University to prepare athletes for the Olympics.
Revamping public education and residential schooling
The CM detailed major overhauls in the public education system, including the formation of an Education Commission to elevate standards. Preschool education will be introduced in government schools, and the government is addressing issues in hostels by increasing diet charges by 40 percent and cosmetic charges by 200 percent.
The state is constructing 58 Young India Residential Schools for Rs 11,600 crore to promote social integration and provide high-quality education to students from SC, ST, BC, and minority communities.
Upgrading healthcare infrastructure
Telangana’s public health sector is undergoing major transformation, with the iconic Osmania Hospital being rebuilt over 30 acres for Rs 2,700 crore. Under Aarogyasri, the government is offering free treatment worth Rs 10 lakh per family for low-income groups.
Social justice through the caste census and the reservation policy
Revanth emphasized the government’s commitment to social equity by implementing sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes and declaring February 4 as Telangana Social Justice Day.
A scientific caste census revealed that BCs form 50.36% of the state’s population. In response, the government has passed legislation to increase BC reservations to 42% across education, employment, and local governance.
Indiramma housing returns to empower the poor
The Indiramma Housing Scheme has been revived, with Rs 5 lakh in assistance per house. A total of 4.5 lakh houses are being sanctioned, and Rs 1 lakh in initial funding has already been transferred to 5,364 beneficiaries.
Food security through 'Sanna Biyyam Scheme
In a pioneering move, the state is providing fine rice (sanna biyyam) to 3 crore beneficiaries, a program the CM described as a “trendsetter in welfare history.” Revanth shared a personal visit to a beneficiary’s home in Khammam, underscoring the emotional impact of the program.
