`Birthday party' or `burst party'? Nine Hyderabad youth held for violating lockdown

In utter disregard of lockdown, a group of youth thronged the busy Afzal Sagar road to celebrate the birthday of their friends on Wednesday night.
The youth danced to loud music as a part of the birthday celebrations of two friends. They flashed swords to keep the crowd at bay. Throwing all SOPs to the wind, participants neither wore facemasks and nor maintained social distance.
Later Habeeb Nagar police registered a case against the birthday boys Sairam and Arjun and their seven other friends. They were booked under the Arms Act, Disaster Management Act, and the Epidemic Diseases Act. They were arrested late on Thursday.

Videos of the party went viral on different social media platforms. It was learnt that the birthday boys are associated with a local leader.
Police however denied their association with any leader or political party. Police said all of them have been booked under the relevant section of law. "Any such incidents will be treated seriously and strict action will be taken against people indulging in such activities," police said.
