Bittersweet Raksha Bandhan: 2 Kakinada brothers install statue of deceased sister

Kakinada: Raksha Bandhan is an emotional day for every brother and sister, but it was a bittersweet one for two brothers – Siva and Raja – of the Kakinada district. They lost their sister in a tragic road accident a few months ago. They felt her absence this Raksha Bandhan and in memory of their sister the two brothers and their elder sister Varalakshmi created a statue of her.

Videos of the emotional day have gone viral and will surely leave you emotional. According to sources, Mani (29) died in a road accident seven months ago after her dupatta got stuck in the bike tire. She was married and had two children.

For her two brothers, Raksha Bandhan used to be the most memorable day as they waited for their sisters to come home and tie rakhis. This year though, they felt the loss and decided to make a statue of her and install it at their home.

On 12 August, the duo took the statue and took out a rally to Kathipudi village under Sankharavam mandal in Kakinada district. They advised women to be safe while driving or sitting behind the vehicle. Flexy banners were put up with a message that read 'Every woman should be careful while riding on a two-wheeler. No other sister should suffer the pain of my sister."
