BJP chief Bandi Sanjay detained; massive protests rock Telangana

Hyderabad: Massive protests rocked different parts of Telangana after BJP Chief and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay was detained by Warangal police during Pada Yatra. He was reportedly picked up at Station Ganpur for over allegation, i.e TRS MLC Kavitha's involvement in the Delhi's Liquor scam. Simultaneously, BJP MLA for Goshamahal Raja Singh has been arrested for making derogatory remarks against Prophet Muhammad.

Speaking to NewsMeter, BJP IT Cell Head Venkata Ramana said: "Bandi Sanjay is exposing the corrupt nexus between Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao's family in the Delhi's Liquor scam. It is pertinent to note that the TRS government has rapidly increased the number of liquor belt shops not only to increase the revenue of the state but also to benefit his own family."

He said that youth are addicted to alcohol in villages. "Who is responsible for this? Their future is at stake. Whenever the BJP leaders or Karyakartas raise these issues, Telangana police are quick to arrest them," he said. Bandi Sanjay and a few of his supporters were taken into custody at Station Ganpur.

The BJP has linked TRS MLA Kavitha with the Delhi liquor policy scam. On Sunday, the BJP alleged that K. Kavitha, TRS MLC, and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao's daughter, played a crucial role in the multi-crore. liquor policy scam involving Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against Sisodia and others including Hyderabad-based Arun Ramachandran Pillai. CBI has accused them of committing financial irregularities in executing the new liquor policy in the national capital.

In the BJP party meeting on Sunday, allegations were leveled against MLC Kavitha for her involvement in the Delhi excise policy case. Deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia is allegedly blamed in the excise policy for liquor case. Manjinder Singh Sarsa, BJP's former MLA from Rajouri Garden constituency in the national capital, during a press conference alleged, "Kavitha facilitated the meetings at the Oberoi Hotel with liquor barons and paid Rs. 4.5 crore bribe to Sisodia to get a distillery in Punjab unsealed."

In response to this, TRS MLC Kavitha has decided to file a defamation case against BJP MP Parvesh Varma and former MLA Manjinder Sirsa for 'allegations' on the excise policy. "We fought for the state of Telangana. We went on the roads to fight for it. We are not going to be cowed down by baseless allegations of Bharatiya Janata Party," said MLC K Kavitha.

She said the BJP is indulging in partisan politics with Opposition parties across the country. "This is not a healthy practice. I am being defamed because the BJP fears KCR. They are worried that KCR is going to fight the Central government," she added. Stating that KCR's dream is to develop India, she said, "Don't be afraid. The case of Bilkis Bano shows the real nature of the Central government. People are taking note of these things."
