BJP demands transfer of Rachakonda commissioner

A BJP delegation led by union minister Muralidharan, National General Secretary Tarun Chugh and state unit leader N Ramchander Rao, met ECI, and submitted a complaint against Rachakonda CP Mahesh Bhagawat, demanding his transfer. The Telangana BJP stated that his continuation is in violation of ECI guidelines

Mahesh Bhagawat has been working as a Commissioner of Police (Rachakonda) since 2016. "The said officer's continuation in the same constituency limits is a violation of the Election Commission of India's guidelines, in connection with transfer and posting of officers in the Bye-Election to assembly constituency," the letter read.

The letter further stated that as per the guidelines of ECI if an officer has completed 3-years during the last 4-years or would be completing 3-years on or before the last day of the sixth month such officers shall be shifted out of the assembly constituency limit with immediate effect.

The BJP further requested that action may be taken in the above state subject matter immediately.
