BJP to form govt in Delhi after 26 years

Hyderabad: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will come to power in Delhi after 26 years, making it a grand moment for the party to rejoice. The Aam Aadmi Party has been routed in Delhi, which was its first and only base as a political party.

The Indian National Congress has got only a 7 percent vote share in Delhi and no seats for the party.

The question doing rounds in political circles is does the 7 percent vote share of the Indian National Congress in Delhi Assembly elections benefit the Bharatiya Janata Party?

Kejriwal and Sisodia lost

Former chief minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal and former deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia have lost New Delhi and Jangpura seats respectively. Kejriwal lost to BJP candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh by 4000 votes.

Manish Sisodia lost to BJPā€™s Tarvinder Singh Marwah by 600 votes.

Kejriwal in a video message said, ā€œWe accept the verdict of the people and I congratulate the BJP for this win in the Delhi elections. I hope that BJP will fulfill all the promises that they have made to the people of Delhi. In the last 10 years, we have worked in the sector of education, health, water, electricity and also worked towards improving the infrastructure of Delhi. With the verdict of the people, we will play the role of a constructive Opposition. I want to thank all the workers of AAP who have worked very hard for the party.ā€

AAP Atishi won by 300 votes from Kalkaji. With the defeat of Kejriwal, Atishi says, ā€˜Jung jaari Rahenge,ā€™.

Delhi BJP leaders credit PM Modi

BJP leaders from Delhi have credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the victory in the Delhi elections. BJP national vice-president and partyā€™s Delhi election in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda says,ā€œ The biggest reason for this historic victory is the unwavering trust of Delhiā€™s people in PM Modiā€™s guarantee. People were fed up with the ā€˜aapdaā€™ government, and they wanted release from the same fake promises and scams.ā€

BJP candidate from Karol Bagh seat Dushyant Gautam says, "BJP was fighting under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi. People voted for a change." The BJP party office in Delhi saw celebrations as people gathered in large numbers outside the office.

Will AAP split further?

There are rumors rife in the national capital that the MLAā€™s of AAP will jump parties, or it will split further. Before the Delhi election results, there were rumors that the AAP MLAā€™s had been approached by the BJP. With a landslide win, will they still take AAP MLAā€™s?
