Hyderabad: Union Home minister Amit Shah on Saturday said his party is ready for early polls in Telangana and will defeat the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) in the state even if the TRS government declares the election tomorrow.
Addressing a public meeting held at Tukkuguda on the outskirts of the city to mark the culmination of the second phase of BJP Telangana president Bandi Sanjay Kumar's 'Praja Sangram Yatra', Mr. Shah said, "Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao at his farmhouse is making plans for early elections. TRS can declare the election tomorrow itself as we (BJP) are ready for it. We will win the elections whenever TRS goes for election, even if it's an early one," he said in his 30-minute speech.
Stating that the BJP will soon overthrow the "Nizam" from the seat of power in Telangana, Mr. Shah described the TRS as a party that is being "steered by the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM)."
He further said that people were aware that the state government was not implementing any schemes but branding the Centre's schemes as its own. He slammed the KCR-led government in Telangana over alleged corruption and for not fulfilling its promises to the people of Telangana. Claiming that BJP was ready to face polls in Telangana, which were due in 2023, Mr. Shah said after forming a government, it will implement all the promises made to the public.
Slamming KCR for criticising the BJP government at the Centre over paddy procurement, Mr. Shah said it was the responsibility of the TRS government to purchase parboiled rice and if it cannot do it, then KCR should resign.
He said that there were no employment or loan write-offs in the state under the ruling TRS. "I have never seen a worse government in the last 13 years that I have been a public servant. KCR ji, you have built four new super-specialty hospitals in Hyderabad, but I ask the people today to once look at the state of Gandhi and Osmania hospitals," Mr. Shah said while attacking the TRS.
He added, "You promised to waive farmer loans, provide 2BHK flats, Rs. 50,000 crore for Dalits and three acres of land for every Dalit. But you have given nothing. I want to remind the people of Telangana that KCR promised water, funds, and jobs. But has he delivered on those promises? The BJP will fulfil those promises. We will give water, funds, and jobs."
Mr. Shah added that the TRS government is a family-run business, and it will not provide the youth with jobs and opportunities. He said only the BJP only can provide jobs.
In the coming days, more BJP leaders are expected to visit Telangana, where the state Assembly elections are due in 2023.
Earlier, in his speech, BJP state president Bandi Sanjay earnestly appealed to the people to support BJP in Telangana. "You gave an opportunity to Congress, TDP, and TRS and now please, please, please give an opportunity to BJP," he said.
The Union minister also inaugurated the National Cyber Forensic Laboratory (NCFL) at the Central Forensic Science Laboratory campus.
