BJY gathers strength before entering Hyderabad; all eyes on Charminar

"Yatra is totally charged up today," said a Congress party worker as he participated in the Bharat Jodo Yatra from Gollapalli to Balanagar on its fourth day in Telangana.

Meanwhile, party workers from across the state including Munugode are arriving at Shamshabad to participate in the yatra before it enters Hyderabad.

Sources say that it will be a show of strength at Charminar on November 1st to send a message to the political parties both in the state and centre. The national flag will be hoisted near Charminar by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.

There are party people, members of the civil society, and yatris from different states participating in BJY.

Interaction with 45 civil society members

Growing economic inequalities and disparities in the country are going to create a further divide. The economic inequalities are also being noted at the state levels with South Indian states generating more revenue than the large North Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said, "The policies of the BJP are destructive for the economy and if this goes on for long it will affect the economic balance and also unity of the country."

On the issue of social polarisation, Gandhi said that it was more of the fear among the people that the BJP had created than hatred. Fear from other religions to protect one's own religion is being seen in the country. This kind of fear psychosis and intimidation is making people scared.

Rahul Gandhi spoke to civil society members about the intent of the Bharat Jodo Yatra which is to fight against the growing economic inequalities, social polarisation, and political authoritarianism.

He said, "Congress is the only party that appeals to people across different sections of the society."

Civil Society members who attended the meeting had mixed reactions as some were impressed while some of them were not. A member said, "With polarization, it is important to be more specific than general. The way out from polarisation has to be chalked out in a strategic manner to earn the confidence of all sections."

Morning sprint by Rahul Gandhi

On the 53rd morning of the yatra from Gollapalli to Balanagar, Rahul Gandhi decided to run with the young boys who had joined the yatra.

The sprint was a fun play for the children who had joined him. It was interesting to see Telangana Congress Pradesh President Revanth Reddy, policemen, security guards, and other members who walked with him in the conclave had to run to catch up with Mr. Gandhi. Netizens were active on Sunday morning, expressing their viewpoints on the run.
