Hyderabad: Oracle Swarnalatha predicted abundant rains for Telangana this year but warned of an impending pandemic and fire accidents if rituals were not performed properly.

The prophecy was made by Swarnalatha during the Rangam ritual at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple on Monday,

Standing atop a clay pot before the deity, she cautioned devotees that the goddess’s anger could lead to severe consequences, urging them to uphold traditional offerings and pujas with devotion.

ā€˜Happy with Bonalu but unhappy with Rituals’

Swarnalatha, believed to be possessed by Goddess Mahankali during Rangam, said, ā€œI have happily received the Bonalu offerings from my devotees. But every year, you create some obstacle. Despite my repeated requests, my wishes remain unfulfilled. I continue to protect my children within my womb, but if proper rituals are not conducted, my wrath will consume you.ā€

She further warned, ā€œI am not angry now. But if I turn red-eyed, you will cough up blood and die. You are not performing my pujas properly, and that is why deaths are increasing. I will not stop anyone from facing their destined fate.ā€

Demand for blood offerings

The prophecy stressed the need for traditional blood offerings, saying, ā€œI am bringing thousands of fortunes, but you are not offering blood sacrifices to me. If you fail to conduct rituals properly this year, I will make those obstructing me cough up blood. Do not blame me for that.ā€

The temple priests assured Swarnalatha that rituals would be conducted systematically to appease the goddess.

Warning of pandemic and accidents

Swarnalatha cautioned devotees about looming dangers, stating, ā€œI will stand by and protect everyone. It is my responsibility to safeguard my state and country. In the coming days, a pandemic will haunt you. Be cautious and follow necessary precautions. There will also be fire accidents. I am forewarning you.ā€

Assurance of prosperity

Amid warnings, she assured devotees of good rains and prosperity. ā€œThis year, rain will pour. I will ensure abundant harvests. Please offer me five weeks of pulses and food offerings with turmeric and vermilion to keep me pleased. I am Mahankali, who grants all your desires.ā€

Large turnout and processions

Thousands of devotees gathered at the temple to witness the Rangam ritual and hear Swarnalatha’s prophecy. Minister Ponnam Prabhakar attended the event. Later in the day, the grand Ambari procession of the goddess is scheduled, followed by the Palamaar Bandlu procession in the evening.

For these celebrations, a 33-year-old female elephant named Lakshmi was brought from Sri Karibasava Swamy Mutt in Tumkur, Karnataka, on July 12, with all necessary permissions under forest department regulations.
