Boston: Guntur student dies in suspicious circumstances; police rule out foul play
Abhijeeth Paruchuru, a resident of Burripalem in Guntur district was studying engineering at Boston University.

Identified as Abhijeeth Paruchuru, a resident of Burripalem in Guntur district, he was studying engineering at Boston University. His family alleged that he was murdered.
His parents, Paruchuri Chakradhar and Srilakshmi Boruna are based in Connecticut. According to Abhijit's family, he was a bright student. His mother initially opposed his decision to move abroad for higher studies.
During his education, Abhijeeth used to stay with his friends in a rented house. When he did not reach home after finishing his classes, his friends lodged a missing complaint.
On March 11, the police traced his body in his car in a forest. The officials identified his body based on his cell phone signals.
According to the Consulate General of India in New York, the initial investigation has ruled out anything suspicious. Paruchuru's parents are in direct touch with detectives. Initial investigations rule out foul play.
Paruchuru's last rites were performed in his hometown in Andhra Pradesh on Monday.
Since the beginning of 2024, there have been at least nine deaths of Indian and Indian-origin students in the US. Recently, a 27-year-old student from Telangana Venkataramana Pittala lost his life while riding a jet ski in Florida. He was pursuing a master's degree in health informatics at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
In another incident, Amarnath Ghosh, a Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer from Birbhum, West Bengal, succumbed to his gunshot injuries in the United States. On 27 February, he was admitted to a hospital after receiving several gunshot wounds while walking on the street.
