Breaking: Telangana elections on November 30, counting on December 3
The election code comes into effect immediately after announcement of the dates.

Polling will be held in the state in a single phase. Date of counting for all the five states is on December 3. By December 5, 2023, the entire election process will be completed.
The election code comes into effect immediately after announcement of the dates.
The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the dates and schedule for the upcoming Assembly elections to be held in the five states namely Mizoram, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Telangana.
According to the ECI, Mizoram goes to poll on November 7, the dates of polling in two phases for Chhattisgarh are November 7 and 17, 2023. In Madhya Pradesh, the date of poll is also on November 7, 2023. Rajasthan goes to poll on November 23, 2023. The polling date for Telangana has been scheduled on November 30, 2023. The first state to go on polls is Mizoram. Results would be announced by December 10, 2023. Except Chhattisgarh, in other states, the elections will be in a single phase.
In a press conference held in New Delhi on October 9, the ECI announced the polling dates, the number of phases the elections would be held in each state and the dates for filing and withdrawing nominations. As the terms of the legislative assemblies in the five states are going to expire between December 2023 and January 2024, state elections are being held.
Addressing the media, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar, said, āThese polls have unique significance, not only for the residence of the states but also for the nation. In this span of 40 days, the commission had visited all the five states and had detailed discussions with the political parties, the enforcement agencies and almost all government departments. We took feedback from representatives of all political parties.ā The CEC was accompanied by election commissioners Anup Chandra Pandey and Arun Goyal and other election officials.
There are 679 assembly constituencies in the five states put together, which is one sixth of total assembly constituencies. Total voters constitute 8.2 crore males and 7.8 crore females. There are 60.2 lakh first time voters this year.
āWe have concentrated on the inclusion of young voters, persons with disability (PWD) voters, 100 % inclusion of primitive vulnerable tribal groups (PVTGs), transgenders, 80 plus voters and women voters. In two states (Chhattisgarh and Mizoram), the gender ratio is higher and the ratio has considerably improved in other states including Telangana, which has a gender ratio of 998,ā informed the CEC. āThere will be web-casting facilities and would be monitored through the control rooms. We have 940 check posts put up by different enforcement agencies,ā he added.
Telanganaās Legislative Assembly consists of 119 constituencies. Among these, 18 constituencies are reserved for SC candidates and nine constituencies are reserved for ST candidates. Total number of voters in Telangana is 3.17 voters.
Madhya Pradesh has a total of 230 constituencies in the State Legislative Assembly. Mizoram has one parliamentary constituency and 40 assembly constituencies. The total number of Assembly constituencies in Rajasthan is 200 constituencies. Chhattisgarh has 90 constituencies.
