BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy suspended from Telangana Assembly for ‘insulting’ Speaker
Jagadish Reddy allegedly told the Speaker, “All members have equal rights in the House. This House belongs to everybody; it not the Speaker’s own house.”

Hyderabad: Congress minister Sridhar Babu proposed suspension of BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy from Telangana Assembly
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA G Jagadish Reddy was suspended from the Telangana Assembly for inappropriate comments and allegedly insulting speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar during the ongoing special session.
Jagadish Reddy told the speaker, “All members have equal rights in the House. This House belongs to everybody; it not the Speaker’s own house.” The statement led to an uproar, and Congress members reacted strongly to the statement.
Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar reprimanded Jagadish Reddy for his comments and said, “You are violating the traditions of the House.”
Telangana IT minister Sridhar Babu proposed the suspension of BRS MLA Jagadish Reddy during the Motion of Thanks for the Governor’s address.
Incidents leading to the suspension of the MLA
In his speech, MLA Jagadish Reddy asked the ruling government legislators about the status of the welfare schemes, such as the implementation of Rythu Bharosa and the crop loan waiver. He inquired about the other schemes promised by the Congress government in Telangana and whether they were being implemented as promised.
His speech was interrupted by other members. That is when the MLA addressed the speaker, saying, “All members have equal rights in the House. This House belongs to everybody; it not the Speaker’s own house.”
Congress legislators demand MLA’s suspension
All senior Congress MLAs reacted strongly to the way the speaker was spoken to. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu said, “The dignity of the House must be maintained. Speaker cannot be addressed in this manner by any of the MLAs.”
Minister Sridhar Babu proposed the suspension of Jagdish Reddy.
Sridhar Babu said, “The conduct of Jagadish Reddy in the Assembly is deeply disappointing. Addressing the speaker in singular terms is inappropriate. The rules of the House are clear; no member is allowed to make any remarks about the speaker either inside or outside the House. No member has the authority to question the speaker’s decisions or powers. The rules of the House must be followed.”
He alleged that the BRS members had attended the session with the sole intention of disrupting the proceedings. He said, “The responsibility of upholding the dignity of the House lies with the government.”
BRS MLAs say Jagadish Reddy was targetted
BRS MLA Talasani Srinivas Yadav requested the speaker to give equal opportunity to all to speak. Yadav said, “Jagadish Reddy started his speech, and within two minutes, two members of the House interrupted him. Are we not to speak in the House?”
After that, the BRS MLAs met at the media point and said that the Congress MLAs were targeting Jagadish Reddy and were not allowing him to speak in the House.
