Campaigning for YS Sharmila is to dethrone murder accused Avinash Reddy: Dr Suneetha Narreddy

Hyderabad: For the last five years, Dr Suneetha Narreddy, the daughter of former minister YS Vivekananda Reddy has been fighting a legal battle to bring her father’s murderers to book.

With the system against her, Dr Suneetha has not given up her fight for justice.

She has now decided to go to the public to make people aware of the conspiracy behind the murder of her father. That is why she has decided to campaign for YS Sharmila in the Kadapa Lok Sabha constituency.

"If the culprits are dethroned from power, justice will be served to me. Retaliation is not my aim. Seeking justice is my goal," she said.

In a free-wheeling talk interview with NewsMeter, Dr Suneetha poured her heart out about her father's murder and killers roaming freely. Excerpts:

NM: What was the reason for the murder of YS Vivekananda Reddy before the 2019 assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh? How can you confirm YS Avinash Reddy’s involvement in it?

Suneetha: Before 2009, either YS Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR) or my father YS Vivekananda Reddy contested from the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was given a chance in 2009. He was the MP. After YSR’s death, there was a discussion to field a man from Pulivendula. YS Bhaskar Reddy was considered as a candidate. However, he was not liked by my father YS Vivekananda Reddy. Instead, he suggested YSR’s wife Vijayamma, or his daughter YS Sharmila from Pulivendula.

At that moment, the Congress leadership nominated YS Vivekananda Reddy as a Cabinet minister. The decision did not go well with YS Jagan. He and his mother resigned from the party. In the 2011 by-election, YS Vijayamma defeated YS Vivekananda Reddy in Pulivendula and became an MLA. After the defeat, YS Vivekananda Reddy decided to join the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). When YS Jagan was jailed by the CBI and the Enforcement Directorate in the disproportionate asset case, YS Sharmila took the party's responsibility and led it to victory.

In 2014, many leaders thought that YS Sharmila would be given a chance to contest from Kadapa Lok Sabha. It was not liked by my father. Later in 2017, YS Vivekananda Reddy was defeated in the MLC elections because of the backstabbing by YS Avinash Reddy. Because of my foolishness, I believed my family was not involved in my father's death. It was the biggest mistake that I committed in my life.

NM: Why are you raising YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case before the general elections in Andhra Pradesh? Any there any particular reasons?

Suneetha: For the last five years, I have been fighting for justice. Despite knowing the accused, YS Jagan is not only protecting him but giving him a ticket to contest from the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat.

Sadly, justice is delayed. I am a normal person and daughter of YS Vivekananda Reddy. I think justice will be served only when the accused are dethroned from power by the people through their vote.

NM: Initially there were rumors about your political entry. Are there any plans to join any political party?

Suneetha: My decision to stay out of politics was made almost twenty years ago. I have no desire to contest the elections or join any political party. Remaining vengeful is not my desire. After YS Avinash Reddy is defeated from the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, I shall be able to pursue my goal of seeking justice. My goal is to strengthen the system and encourage other justice-seekers like me.

NM: Speculations are that you are being supported by TDP at the backend against the YSRCP. What are your comments? Did you approach any political party for justice?

Suneetha: It is purely baseless allegations made by the YSRCP. Several leaders within the party are aware of YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder case. They want to remain silent fearing vendetta. The entire Andhra Pradesh is behind me. Irrespective of political affiliations, I have met leaders and will continue to meet more to seek justice for my father.

NM: What kind of support can we expect from you to YS Sharmila in Kadapa? How much does her victory mean to you?

Suneetha: Definitely, I will support her candidature from Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. I started campaigning for her victory in Kadapa on Friday and will continue in the coming days by addressing the public. I will let people know the facts about YS Vivekananda Reddy’s murder. If YS Sharmila wins the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat, YS Avinash Reddy will be dethroned from power. At Least by that time, he can stop influencing the system and could be proven as guilty by the courts. That way justice would be done to me.
