Amaravati: Telugu Desam Party chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu will swear in as the chief minister of Andhra Pradesh on June 12 in Amaravati, said a top source to NewsMeter. This will be his fourth term as the chief minister; he was CM in 1995, and 1999 in united Andhra Pradesh and 2014 and 2024 in divided AP.

The swearing-in date has been postponed given prime minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony which is likely to be on June 9. Meanwhile, arrangements are said to have started in Amaravati, where the TDP senior leaders are discussing the venue and the guests list.

The NDA alliance of the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena Party unseated YSRCP with a brute majority of 164 Assembly and 21 Lok Sabha seats in the just concluded 2024 polls.

Security beefed up at Naidu’s house; NDA meeting on Friday

As the TDP comes to power, security measures have been increased at Naidu’s residence in Undavalli. Two Guntur district ASPs have been deployed to handle the security arrangements, as MLAs, MPs, and officials are gathering at his house to strategise the meeting in Delhi.

On Thursday, Naidu directed the party MPs to attend the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) meeting being organised in New Delhi on June 7. While those MPs who are present in Amaravati attended the TDP Parliamentary Party meeting in person at his Vundavalli residence, those who are in their respective constituencies participated in the meeting through Zoom.

Naidu during the meeting with the newly elected MPs said that there would be no rule of bureaucrats in the state and advised all the MPs to meet him often.

He recalled how several leaders and party activists sacrificed their lives for me and the TDP in the last five years. Despite attacks on them, the leaders and party cadres stood behind all the time.

Naidu said that there will be political administration in the state and informed all the MPs that he would take the oath as chief minister on June 12.

All the TDP MPs are expected to reach the national capital by Thursday night and Naidu will be travelling to Delhi on Friday morning to meet the NDA leaders regarding the composition of the Union Cabinet.

Naidu denied meeting Anjaneyulu

Earlier in the day, Naidu denied giving an appointment to senior IPS officer and former Intelligence chief PSR Anjaneyulu. Anjaneyulu tried to pay a courtesy call to Naidu at his residence. He was transferred before recent polls by the Election Commission of India (ECI). The senior officer is said to have hunted down every officer and politician who had any connection to the TDP during the YSRCP regime.

As the TDP-JSP-BJP alliance is set to form the government in the state, the police took control of the Andhra Pradesh Fiber Net office in Vijayawada. Earlier, the AP CID named N Chandrababu Naidu the main accused in the Rs 114 crores AP Fibernet scam.

Naidu might be the potential kingmaker in Delhi

With the BJP falling short of a majority in the Lok Sabha and needing the NDA allies to form the government at the Centre, Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar chief minister and JD(U) head Nitish Kumar have emerged as potential kingmakers.

The TDP put up a good show in the Lok Sabha polls, leading or winning in 16 of the total 25 seats in the state, with allies BJP and Jana Sena Party ahead in three and two constituencies respectively. In the process, he also has emerged as a possible kingmaker, being the second largest party in the ruling NDA alliance behind the BJP.
