Hyderabad: Nara Ramamurthy Naidu, who is younger brother of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu and father of actor Nara Rohit, passed away on Saturday, November 16 here after a prolonged illness. He was 72.

In an official statement, the AIG Hospitals in Gachibowli said he had been hospitalised for three days due to cardio-respiratory issues and was on a ventilator. “He was on tracheostomy tube for prevention of aspirations, and was receiving intermittent ventilatory support in the past whenever required for respiratory distress,” the statement read.


A prominent figure in Andhra Pradesh politics, Ramamurthy Naidu served as the MLA for the Chandragiri constituency from 1994 to 1999, representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP). He played an active role in strengthening the party’s grassroots presence during his tenure.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, who is currently in Delhi, is expected to return shortly to be with the family.

Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy condoled the demise of Ramamurthy Naidu and prayed for the departed soul.



Recently on October 13, his son Nara Rohit had got engaged to his Prathinidhi 2 co-star Siri Lella in Hyderabad. Along with Ramamurthy Naidu, CM Chandrababu Naidu, actor Nandamuri Balakrishna, and other family members had attended the grand ceremony hosted at Novotel.
