Hyderabad: Decks have been cleared to declare the 182-kilometer Choutuppal-Amangal-Shadnagar-Rangareddy stretch of the Regional Ring Road (RRR) southern part as a national highway.

The central government had already declared the northern part of the RRR as a national highway.

After discussing with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Gadkari instructed the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) officials to prepare proposals to declare the southern section of RRR as a national highway.

Apart from declaring the southern part of the RRR as a national highway, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy also appealed to Nitin Gadkari to grant permission for the expansion of national highways and to upgrade several important state highways to national highways in Telangana.

After explaining the significance of designating the state roads as national highways, the Chief Minister gave the Union Minister the list of state roads that ought to be upgraded to national highway status. During the discussion, the Union Minister was made aware of the difficulties encountered in the state's national highway construction and extension by the Chief Minister.

Revanth and Gadkari spoke about the disagreement between the central and state governments over the demolition of structures, buildings, and other utilities inside the boundaries of the Ring Road (RRR) Northern Part, which passes through Choutuppal, Bhuvanagiri, Tuppan, Sangareddy, and Kandi. Approximately 10 months ago, representatives from NHAI recommended that the state government bear the expense of moving utilities.

There was still a deadlock over this matter since it refused to accept the NHAI's condition. After assuming charge, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy sent a letter to NHAI agreeing to bear the cost of the relocation of utilities. Revanth Reddy also mentioned this issue to Gadkari, who inquired about the NHAI officials and expressed his displeasure at asking the state government to bear the cost.

Gadkari also said that the state government would have to get half of the toll money if it had to pay for the relocation of the utilities. Gadkari promised that the center would pay for the utilities to be moved. The Union Minister instructed Revanth Reddy to expedite the land purchase and legal procedures associated with the RRR's construction.

Along with this, Revanth Reddy asked the Union Minister to approve the proposal to expand the national highway to six lanes from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and the route from Hyderabad to Kalwakurthy to four lanes.

The Union Minister responded positively to the chief minister's request. On this occasion, the Union Minister advised the chief minister to submit the required proposals for the CRIF (Construction of Rural Infrastructure Fund) grant.
