Hyderabad: Chief Minister Revanth Reddy allocated portfolios to the three newly inducted cabinet ministers late Thursday night.
Minister G Vivek Venkatswamy has been assigned labour, employment, training, factories, mines, and geology. Ramagundam Super Thermal Power Plant falls in G Vivekās constituency.
Minister Adluri Laxman Kumar has been allocated the scheduled caste welfare department, the tribal and minority welfare department, the department of senior citizens and people with disabilites.
Minister Vakati Srihari has been allotted animal husbandry, dairy development and fisheries, and sports and youth services.
Portfolio allocation after discussion with the high command
The three new ministers were allotted departments after the Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's discussion with Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge.
āThere was a detailed discussion on the home ministry, finance ministry, and the irrigation department. These three departments are also going to be shuffled soon,ā Congress sources said
Earlier, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy told the media in Delhi that he would allocate the departments that he has been holding.
āThere was a lot of discussion about Telangana. While CM Revanth Reddy was in Delhi, former chief minister KCR appeared before the P C Ghose Commission for the inquiry of the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation project. There have been constant issues raised with regard to the home department, and there were talks to move it out from the CM Revanth Reddy. This will also happen soon,ā said a senior Congress leader.
Telangana cabinet expansion
The Telangana cabinet expansion happened after a long wait. It was planned in March but happened in June. There were six ministers to be sworn in, but only three have been sworn in. Three seats are vacant.
According to sources, āThis is to balance the political scenario in the state. The caste census of the Telangana government made it clear that social justice must be put into action. For that reason, the caste equations have been kept in mind while allotting the seats. Scheduled castes Madiga, Mala, and backward class Mudiraj have been given their due by the Congress party in the state.ā
No new Reddys were given the cabinet berth for now.
Muslim representation is a larger issue. There is not a single Muslim who has got either an MLC or a cabinet berth.
