The CM enquired about the problems and challenges facing their profession and said that all their issues would be taken into consideration.

CM Revanth Reddy announces Rs 5 lakh accident coverage for gig workers, cab and auto drivers

Hyderabad: Extending state benefits for gig workers in the unorganised jobs sector, chief minister A Revanth Reddy announced a Rs 5 lakh insurance policy on accidents for cab drivers, food delivery boys and auto drivers and also medical care up to Rs 10 lakhs under the Rajiv Aarogyasri scheme.

The CM instructed the officials to extend Rs 2 lakhs financial assistance to the family of a Swiggy delivery agent who died falling from the top of a building while escaping a chasing dog. The CM also assured to make available an application which is being developed by T-Hub on the lines of Ola.

CM Revanth Reddy attended a meeting to find out the problems being faced by cab drivers, food delivery boys and auto drivers at Nampally Exhibition Grounds on Saturday. The CM enquired about the problems and challenges facing their profession and said that all their issues would be taken into consideration.

CM Revanth Reddy said that the State government will take responsibility in providing social security to their jobs. AICC leader Rahul Gandhi has already assured to take the necessary measures to provide jobs and social security for unorganised workers. The government will take a policy decision in this direction. CM Revanth promised that the State government would study the existing policy in Rajasthan and introduce an effective law in the next state Budget session.

ā€œApart from eyeing profits, the organisations should also pay attention to the welfare of the workers and employees. The government will not hesitate to take stringent action against any big organisation which fails to follow the give-and-take policy. A Swiggy boy fell from the building after being chased by a dog and died four months ago. The previous government did not provide any assistance to the bereaved family. Governments should play a generous role during such incidents. I am giving instructions to the officials to collect the family details and provide Rs 2 lakhs assistance from CMRF,ā€ said CM Revanth Reddy.

The chief minister advised the cab drivers, food delivery boys and auto drivers to submit their applications either in digital format or manually in the Grama Sabhas organised from December 28 to January 6.

CM Revanth Reddy assured us that all applications received in Prajavani will be resolved. IT and Industries minister D Sridhar Babu, AICC secretaries Rohit Chaudhary, Mansoor Ali Khan, Madhu Yashki, TPCC working president Mahesh Kumar Goud and other leaders also participated in the programme.
