CM Revanth meets Goyal and Nadda, seeks Centre’s backing for Zaheerabad Smart City, urea supply

New Delhi: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy with union minister J P Nadda

New Delhi: Infrastructure and industrial development of Telangana on the Zaheerabad stretch and the need for urea for farmers were the key topics raised by chief minister A Revanth Reddy on the second day of his visit to New Delhi.

On Tuesday, he met and discussed the issues concerning the State with Union minister for Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal and Union minister for Fertilisers and Chemicals JP Nadda.

Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City

CM Revanth urged Piyush Goyal to extend Central support for the development of the Zaheerabad Industrial Smart City.

He specifically requested the immediate release of Rs 596.61 crores, which has already been approved by the National Industrial Corridor Development and Implementation Trust (NICDIT), for the project. The CM also sought financial assistance for developing essential infrastructure in the smart city, including water supply, power supply networks and other vital facilities.

Hyderabad-Warangal Corridor

The CM highlighted the significance of the Hyderabad-Warangal Corridor and requested the sanction of funds for the speedy completion of works at Warangal Airport. He informed the Union minister that the feasibility study for the Hyderabad-Vijayawada Industrial Corridor is currently underway.

While mentioning Telangana’s Defence and Aerospace Park in Adibatla, CM Revanth appealed to Goyal to sanction the Hyderabad-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor as an Aero-Defence corridor.

He also apprised the Union Minister of the State government’s proposal for developing 100 plug-and-play industrial parks, seeking the Centre’s assistance for the approval of this new industrial development project.

Increase the railway rakes for urea supply

CM Revanth requested JP Nadda to provide a timely supply of urea allocated to Telangana to meet the agricultural demands during the ongoing farming season.

The chief minister brought to Nadda’s attention that only 3.07 lakh metric tonnes of urea were supplied between April and June against a requirement of 5 lakh metric tonnes for the Kharif season. With farming activity in full swing and abundant inflows into projects, CM Revanth appealed to the Union minister to ensure an uninterrupted supply of urea.

He further highlighted that while 63,000 metric tonnes of domestically produced urea and 97,000 metric tonnes of imported urea were slated for July, only 29,000 metric tonnes have been supplied so far.

The chief minister also urged Nadda to enhance Telangana’s quota of domestically produced urea and increase the number of railway rakes for urea supply, citing the Railways’ reluctance to provide more rakes.

Along with the chief minister, Telangana MP Dr Mallu Ravi, Chamala Kiran Kumar and other senior officials were also present. According to sources, CM Revanth has also sought time to discuss the pending metro rail project with the cabinet minister for urban affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar.

The detailed project report of the Hyderabad Metro Rail has been submitted by the Telangana government, and the funds from the Central government are pending.
