Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Friday outlined ambitious plans to address Hyderabad’s chronic traffic and infrastructure challenges.

The chief minister inaugurated the ‘CREDAI Property Show-2025’ at Hitex Exhibition Centre, Madhapur here.

Criticism of previous Metro delay

Highlighting stalled metro expansion over the past decade, the CM announced extensions of the metro network to Shamirpet and Medchal, improvements in last-mile connectivity and the development of multi-modal transport hubs in densely populated areas.

CM Revanth criticised the former BRS government for not expanding the metro, noting that Hyderabad’s traffic challenges could have been partially resolved had metro expansion been completed over the past decade.

Financial relief and appeal to Centre

CM Revanth appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to restructure high-interest loans taken by the previous government. He noted that the State faced a severe economic crisis due to mounting debt and interest obligations.

The chief minister said the government had successfully restructured Rs 26,000 crore in loans at 7.5 per cent interest over 35 years and urged the Union Government to consider restructuring an additional Rs 2 lakh crore to ease the State’s financial burden.

Road infrastructure and strategic projects

Plans were revealed for 11 new radial roads linking the Regional Ring Road (RRR) with the Outer Ring Road (ORR), aimed at improving intra-city traffic flow.

He also highlighted proposals for a dry port along the Hyderabad–Amaravati Greenfield Highway, designed to strengthen logistics and regional connectivity.

Structured urban and regional development

The chief minister proposed a zoning framework dividing Telangana into core urban, semi-urban, and rural areas to ensure balanced development. He stressed that this approach would accelerate real estate and infrastructure growth while creating long-term investment opportunities for local stakeholders.

Investor-friendly policies and governance

CM Revanth assured investors of transparent policies with priority for local businesses.

Warning against politically motivated misinformation, he emphasised that government initiatives are designed to benefit both the public and investors alike.

Engaging the Centre for clearances

Addressing his frequent visits to Delhi, the chief minister defended the need to secure central approvals for projects such as the Musi Rejuvenation initiative, Metro Rail Phase II, last-mile connectivity, the RRR, regional rail, airports and the proposed dry port along the Greenfield Highway. He criticised the previous government for misusing the Chief Minister’s official residence in Delhi.

Vision for a ‘Great City’

CM Revanth declared his intention to develop Hyderabad as a ‘Great City’ with a lasting legacy.

“Just as past leaders left their mark, N Chandrababu Naidu with Hi-Tech City, YS Rajashekhar Reddy with the Outer Ring Road and Quli Qutub Shah with Charminar, my vision will shape Hyderabad for generations,” he said, emphasising his energy and commitment to Telangana’s development.

HYDRAA and industry warnings

The chief minister also underlined the government’s HYDRAA initiative to protect water bodies from encroachment and cautioned the real estate industry against opposition-driven misinformation.

“Our development plans are moving forward despite misconceptions, ensuring progress without policy paralysis,” he said.
