By Newsmeter Network Published on 1 May 2023 1:45 PM GMTHyderabad: Commercial LPG prices in India have been reduced for the second consecutive month as international oil prices soften. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder has been cut by a significant Rs. 171.5 per cylinder down to Rs. 1,856.5 in the national capital, according to state-owned fuel retailers.
This reduction follows a previous cut of Rs. 91.5 per cylinder on 1 April, though it has not neutralised the Rs. 350.5 per cylinder hike in prices that were implemented on 1 March.
Hyderabad has also witnessed a reduction for the second consecutive month. The price of a 19-kg commercial LPG cylinder was Rs. 2,350 in March, which was reduced to Rs. 2,250 in April, and further decreased to Rs. 2,200 in May.
Meanwhile, domestic cooking gas LPG prices remain unchanged at Rs. 1,103 per 14.2-kg cylinder in the national capital, where they have remained since 1 March when they were increased by Rs. 50 per cylinder.
In addition to the reduction in commercial LPG prices, rates of jet fuel (ATF) have also been reduced by 2.45% in line with international trends. This is the third straight monthly reduction in rates, with prices cut by 4% on 1 March and by 8.7% on 1 April.
However, petrol and diesel prices have remained frozen for a record 13th month in a row, despite being supposed to be revised daily based on a 15-day rolling average of benchmark international fuel prices. Petrol currently costs Rs. 96.72 per litre in the national capital and diesel comes for Rs. 89.62.
