Conduct fresh fever survey; prepare in advance to combat third wave: KCR

Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao directed the Medical and Health department to conduct a fresh fever survey in the COVID affected areas and chalk out a comprehensive strategy to deal with the looming third wave. The CM observed that COVID had not been controlled fully in the neighboring states and hence the spillover cannot be ruled out.

He wanted the officials to identify hotspots, conduct a scientific study and critically analyze the reasons for the spread of the virus. The CM instructed the medical and health officials to prepare a special scientific action plan.

He said a team of senior Medical and Health department officials under the leadership of Medical and Health Secretary S.A.M Rizvi should visit the Corona affected border areas from July 11 to 13.

He said officials can use Chopper to visit Nagarjuna Sagar, Miryalguda, Nakrekal, Suryapet, Khammam, Dornakal, Huzurabad, Mancherial, Peddapalli, Bellampalli, Godavari Khani, Sircilla, and Warangal for three days.

KCR wanted the officials to submit a report to the Cabinet after their tour. He said district collectors, DPOs, Municipal Commissioners, and DMHO, Hospital superintendents should be informed about the visit of the Medical Team.

"COVID is becoming a problem without any solution. Nobody knows which wave and variant will hit and when. Nobody knows how much it can spread. We are unable to figure out the reasons, its symptoms, its entire form, and its consequences. Curtailing Corona has become a very difficult task. The state Medical and health department should be on high alert. Find out new ways to control Corona. Take measures to protect people from the new variants," he said

The CM wanted the officials to constantly review the performance of medical and health department officials. "Whether medicines and injections are available? Are they being supplied on time? Are beds and Oxygen available?" he asked.

KCR said an earlier fever survey has helped to prevent Corona. "Our fever survey became a role model for others in the country. It should be once again conducted in the affected areas. With third-wave looming large, medical and health department officials should be ready to face any situation," he said.

The CM urged the people to follow the COVID guidelines and cooperate with the government. He said Palle and Pattana Pragathi programmes have brought in qualitative changes and helped in combating the infection.

Make Warangal a health City

The CM instructed the Medical and Health officials to make Warangal a health City. The CM inquired about the Multi Super Specialty Hospital works. He said medical and health services should be extended to east Telangana region. He said the new hospital complex should house all departments under one roof.
