Congress Niranjan files police complaint against Amit Shah for May 1st rally in Hyderabad
Niranjan in a complaint stated that children were used for the rally which is against Model Code of Conduct
By Kedar Nadella Published on 3 May 2024 3:37 PM GMTHyderabad: G Niranjan, senior vice president of the TPCC (Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee) filed a police complaint against Amit Shah Union home minister for allegedly using children in an election rally in Hyderabad, which is against the election Model Code of Conduct, he said.
Niranjan, also the vice president and chairman of the Election Commission Coordination Committee, also raised the complaint with Vikas Raj IAS, chief electoral officer of Telangana regarding the issue. In an email sent to the authorities, Niranjan wrote, “The Election Commission recently directed the political parties not to use services of children and their participation in election-related propaganda or activities. However, home minister Amit Shah on May 1 participated in an election rally from Lal Darwaza to Sudha Talkies in Hyderabad Lok Sabha Constituency in Telangana State. The rally concluded with a public meeting at Sudha Talkies where you (EC) can find a few children along with Amit Shah on the dais. One of the children was seen with a BJP symbol. This is a clear violation of the guidelines of the election commission. We are attaching here a photo for your perusal.”
The complaint and the photos attached by Congress mentioned T Yaman Singh; Kompella Madhavi Latha, the contesting candidate for Hyderabad Constituency; Amit Shah, Union home minister; Kishan Reddy, Union minister; T Raja Singh, Member of Legislative Assembly, Goshamahal Constituency and others.
G Niranjan sent the mail to the CEO of Telangana State who forwarded it to the Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad City for a factual report and the same was sent to Moghalpura police station for necessary action.
