Congress to rejig leadership roles, induct new members in Telangana, 4 other states after Sankranti

Hyderabad/ New Delhi: Telangana Congress unit is going to see a major reshuffle in the Belagavi session with a change in the working presidents and induction of new blood in the party ranks.
The changes are going to be noticed in Telangana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana, and will come about after the Sankranti festival.
Changes in Telangana
The Telangana Congress party is going for a change in the working presidents, according to sources. The three working presidents are Jagga Reddy, Mohammed Azharuddin and senior leader Dr Geeta Reddy. There will also be changes at the organisational level of different committees, according to sources.
A senior Congressman explained, āThere will be some changes after the Sankranti festival and there will be some that will be done after March.ā
Six MLC seats in March
The tenure of six MLCs is getting over in March 2025āSeri Subhash Reddy, Satyavathi Rathod, Mahmood Ali from Bharat Rashtra Samithi; T Jeevan Reddy and Mallesham Yegge from Indian National Congress and Mirza Riyaz Ul Hassan from AIMIM. According to sources, āThere are candidates in all the political parties vying for these posts. There is hectic lobbying going on. Till March, there will not be any expansion of cabinet or shuffling of ministersā posts in Telangana.ā
Rahul Gandhi may tour the country again
The Belagavi session is to see changes in the All-India Congress Committee. There are going to be major changes in the organisational structures. A senior source said, āWe will now see more of Priyanka Gandhi managing the organisation of the Congress party. Rahul Gandhi will take up the role of touring the country again. There will also be changes in those who are in charge of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Haryana.ā
The Belgavi session is to commemorate the 100 years of Mahatma Gandhi taking over the presidency of the Indian National Congress Party in the Belagavi session in 1924.
Nav Satyagraha Baithak on December 26
In remembrance of that, Congress will hold āNav Satyagraha Baithakā on December 26 at the same place where Gandhi took over as the president of the INC. This will be followed by a mammoth rally named āJai Bapu, Jai Bheem, Jai Samvidaanā on December 27.
Congress general secretary, organisation KC Venugopal accompanied by Jairam Ramesh, general secretary of communications and Pawan Khera, chairman of the Media and Publicity cell gave details of the two-day program to be attended by 200 leaders across India.
These leaders will be CWC members, permanent and special invitees, sitting and former chief ministers, PCC presidents and CLP leaders from the states.
The meeting will discuss the action plan for next year and adopt two resolutions. The CWC will also deliberate upon the current challenges the country is facing, including the socio-economic disparity, erosion of democracy and attack on the constitutional institutions.
Congress is to chart a course of action to take on the BJP as the winter session of Parliament has seen minimal functioning and more chaos. Congress MPs allege that the ruling BJP has not allowed the Parliament to function while also being blamed for it.
