Hyderabad: BRS MLC Kavitha has dropped a bombshell by claiming that a conspiracy is being hatched to merge BRS with the BJP.
Kavitha alleged that a proposal to merge BRS with the BJP was discussed while she was in jail, which she "firmly opposed". She reaffirmed the belief that the BRS is the only party that truly represents Telangana’s aspirations.
She sought to know who leaked the letter she had written to her father and party supremo KCR.
“What will you gain by making paid artists speak against ‘inti aadabidda’ (girl of the house). When I had offered to resign from the party and for the MLC post, KCR had dissuaded me,” she said
Speaking out publicly for the first time after the `letter bomb’, Kavitha launched a scathing attack on both the TDP and her party, the BRS, raising questions over inaction, internal betrayal, and silence on crucial state issues.
Kavitha accused Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu of “lying” about not interfering in Telangana’s water projects.
On May 28, she met a couple of journalists at her residence in Hyderabad. She said the Bankacharla project, a 200 TMC proposal, was announced only after Naidu met Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy at Praja Bhavan.
Stating that Telangana is firmly opposing the project, she urged the Congress government to mount pressure on the TDP to withdraw it.
Kavitha also said her organization, Telangana Jagruti, would organize round table meetings to build public awareness and resistance against the project.
Kavitha expressed anguish over the BRS leadership’s silence on several sensitive issues, including the Ghosh Commission notices served to KCR and the change of the Telangana Thalli statue.
"Why is the BRS silent even after bulldozers were sent to our leaders' homes by the Congress government?" she asked.
"Posting tweets won’t strengthen the party. We need to agitate to survive."
She also pointed fingers at BRS leaders for not criticizing the BJP and Congress while targeting her. She demanded to know why the BRS failed to confront the BJP’s exploitation of Telangana’s natural resources.
Kavitha revealed she had written an internal letter to KCR, which was later leaked to the media, leading to personal attacks.
"What mistake have I made? I want to know who leaked that letter. My team did not leak it,” she said. “It was meant for internal communication only.”
Kavitha added that she had been writing letters to KCR for 25 years, and this was the first time he didn’t respond.
“Every time, KCR used to tear the letters. This time he didn’t — maybe that’s my mistake.”
Kavitha emphasized her loyalty to the party despite internal tensions.
“I never worked for posts. KCR allowed me to serve as an MLC. I only requested to be reappointed as the in-charge for Nizamabad Parliament.”
“I’m straightforward. I don’t do backstabbing politics. I don’t care about money, I am here to stay, not to go," said Kavitha.
KTR criticized those leaking internal communications and called for such "covert" elements to be expelled from the BRS.
Despite the controversy, Kavitha confirmed her June 3rd protest, led by Telangana Jagruti, to condemn the notices served to KCR.
“Instead of speaking about the leaked letter, I was meant to protest — that remains my actual course of action.”
